Location: Englewood, CO (First 90 Days Fully Onsite, Then Hybrid 1-2 Days Remote Per Week)
Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000 Base Salary + 20% Annual Bonus Opportunity

Overview
A well-established and growing organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury management, compliance, and financial planning activities. This highly visible leadership role serves as a strategic business partner to executive leadership while maintaining hands-on responsibility for the organization's financial health, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
This position is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with experience in manufacturing, construction, or other asset-intensive environments, where inventory management, project costing, fixed assets, and operational finance play a critical role in business success.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Provide leadership with financial insights, trends, forecasts, and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements.
- Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and performance reporting.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Develop profitability analyses, KPI reporting, and operational performance metrics.
- Monitor project, inventory, and asset-related financial performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiencies.
- Partner with leadership to support growth initiatives and business planning.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
- Monitor financing requirements and banking relationships.
- Provide recommendations to improve cash utilization and financial performance.
- Support financial risk management initiatives.
Tax & Compliance
- Oversee tax compliance activities, including sales/use tax, property tax, and income tax matters.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings and reporting.
- Maintain supporting documentation and compliance procedures.
ERP Systems & Process Improvement
- Serve as the finance lead for ERP and accounting system optimization.
- Ensure financial data accuracy and integrity across systems.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Coordinate annual audits and financial reviews.
- Strengthen internal control processes and financial governance.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and financial procedures.
- Implement recommendations resulting from audit findings.
Team Leadership
- Directly manage and mentor a team of three finance professionals.
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and employee development activities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Establish goals and priorities for the finance department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Finance Manager, or similar leadership experience.
- Proven experience managing and developing employees.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and compliance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP system experience.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and partner with leaders across the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering, industrial, or project-based environments.
- Strong understanding of:
- Inventory accounting
- Standard costing and job costing
- Fixed assets
- Project accounting
- Operational finance
- Treasury management experience.
- Tax compliance experience.
- CPA, CMA, or other professional accounting designation preferred.
